- Perfect Peace was always God’s plan. Genesis 1-2.
- SIN – Man and Satan screwed that up Genesis 3
Too many people living today without peace – peace of mind. That is of their own choosing.
Living without peace means you are at war with yourself, the world, or God.
The Apostle Paul described it this way:
“but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.” Romans 7: 2
There is a promise of peace with the condition that we love the Word of God…
“Those who love Your Law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble. Psalm 119:16
The problem is people do not love the laws and righteousness of God. They love their ways and choose to live in obedience to what they think is right (Judges 17:6)—meaning disobedience to God.
The Apostle Paul wrote, “For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8: 6-7
Jesus Our Only Hope for Peace – but His definition was different from that of the world.
Isaiah announced that Jesus Messiah would (ultimately) come as the Prince of Peace.
“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (9:6)
His peace is different. “Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.” John 14: 26-27
Jesus made peace with God possible. For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. Colossians 1: 19-20
But now in Christ Jesus you who previously were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace … And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; Ephesians 2:13,14, 17
Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! Romans 7: 24-25
The Invitation to Peace with God: The only way to peace is through Jesus Christ—His words, not mine.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14: 6
Please receive His offer of salvation that alone can bring you lasting peace.
For Christ’s sake,
